KATHERINE A. HOGAN
I work with wire to create suspended sculptures that communicate the supportive tension that gracefully and practically holds form. The shapes are designed to impact the space the sculpture occupies by utilizing light to create shadows and invite texture. I am inspired by the landscape that surrounds me - the curves, dips, and distances (or not) between and the effect of natural elements like the punch of the wind or the detours roots take along the forest floor. Each sculpture I make inspires the next. I welcome working with you to create a custom piece that fits your space, your intention, and your budget. I believe art should be accessible and not exclusive. I have been looping wire to make sculptures since 2006 when I learned the technique in a workshop at the Japanese American Museum in Los Angeles. My intention is to remain open to what I can learn, contribute, and communicate as an art maker.
