Most of my life I have been a photographer. I took my first black and white film course in high school and since then, constantly have a camera nearby. Over 40 years, my photography morphed as technology morphed from film to digital and from black and white to color. In 2015 I started painting and mixed media. This art form now dominates my work. Each piece starts with paint and paper “ground” that leads to the next layer, so on and so on. I use negative painting to make the background into foreground shapes. And then I use positive painting to finalize the image.
