Katherine Hogan - Five Floating
I don’t always have a plan laid out when I build a sculpture. This one I knew I wanted to make something that carries some heft and some bulk yet retains the grace of suspension. This piece takes ownership of space. It creates lovely shadows while absorbing light. It is a one of a kind piece but I can create a similar design in other colors of wire and using different dimensions to fit your space.
I create my sculptures using a looping technique I learned in a workshop hosted by the Japanese American Museum in Los Angeles during the 2007 show of Ruth Asawa’s work.
