Driving south through Colorado’s Gunnison National Forest, the contrast between the white, sun-bleached aspen trunks and the progressively darker trunks deeper into the forest drew me to this particular scene. The overcast sky provided very pleasing soft light, as the bright yellow foliage appeared to glow from deep within the stand. I purposely blurred the image using a long exposure while moving the camera vertically to create a more abstract and painterly image.
