This beautiful, sturdy, hand-painted end table is painted with the Japanese fox messenger (kitsune) of the goddess Inari (Shinto religion), curled up on a stone podium. Japanese shrines dedicated to Inari often have fox sculptures or fox guardians. Inari is the goddess/spirit of foxes, fertility, rice, agriculture and prosperity. Her messenger fox is depicted carrying a granary key. Foxes are thought to be able to shape-shift into human form. Wood-topped with three curved black metal legs. 15 inches in diameter by 16 inches tall. $85. Free local pickup or delivery only.
