The bowl is madrone with walnut rim and rosettes. The madrone portion of the bowl was in my shop for years with a hole in the bottom. I kept trying to visualize a use for it, as the color and grain patterns in the madrone were uniform and without defects. I developed a technique to make rosettes and have covered the hole inside and outside. While the inside is finished with walnut oil and it could be used as a salad bowl, it might be best used for display, or as a whole fruit bowl. The bowl is 10 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep.
