The vase was made from a piece of big leaf maple. One surface was covered with burls. The piece was pressure washed to remove the outer and inner bark, leaving the white surface with burl spikes. The piece was shaped and drilled out to make the vase. The two flat surfaces show natural coloration of the wood and the flame-like pattern that starts at the center of the tree and radiates outward, ending in the burl spikes. The piece is 7 x 5 x 12 inches. It would be great for dry floral arrangements, or with a separate glass or metal water tube (not supplied), cut flowers. It is still mostly solid wood, so the weight, at 7.25 pounds is reflected in the shipping cost. Pickup in Issaquah. $5 delivery within 30 miles or shipping $15.
