This beech salad bowl is spectacularly colored from spalting – action of several waves of fungi digesting their way through the wood as it deteriorates. Once the wood dries, the fungi die and the appearance and structure no longer change. The bowl is 14 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep and is finished on the inside with walnut oil. Pickup in Issaquah. $5 delivery within 30 miles or shipping $10.
