"I work primarily in oil paint on canvas. I have worked out a technique whereby I clean my brushes in ordinary cooking oil so there are no volatile compounds wafting around my studio. People say they can smell the paint, which I no longer smell. Mixed media works include India Ink, pastel, charcoal, tempera, and watercolor. I also make linoleum block prints, which sometimes include painting and gold leaf. Sometimes I glue mixed media work, which I have completed on paper, to stretched canvas and seal it in varnish. I seal with a water soluble varnish using an atomizer. The last layer goes on with a brush."
