Mabrie Ormes - Boxed 5x7 Cards of my artwork in several series
15a, NORTH AMERICAN WOMEN AUTHORS shows the first 10 portraits in this project. Each portrait, which measures 28x21, is finished with 500-1000 words of that author’s writing. Each card has the text from the painting printed on the inside front. I aim to do 60 and to include authors from all eras. $35
15b, FLOWERS a set of 12 cards of my paintings of flowers. $40
15c, BATHERS is comprised of 11 cards of my bathers series, inspired by Degas and my mother, who hung prints of Degas’ ’Bathers’ in our bathroom at home. The originals are 24 x 36 inches and are made in tempera paint and pastels. They are images of nude women and men busy with their toilettes. They are not posing for us and in this way, they carry a subtly feminist message. This set is printed as fine art, using the same high-quality paper and inks as the sunflower prints, above. People can frame them and hang them in their bathrooms with every expectation that they will keep their color. $50
15d, JAZZ includes 16 images in a series of paintings based on my quick drawings of Jazz musicians made during their performances. These are very whimsical, with all sorts of different approaches to portraying the music in color, line, and texture. $45
