Mabrie Ormes - Summer Garden Cluster
Summer Garden Cluster was copied from an earlier painting I made outdoors over several days. The original measured 18 x 28 inches. Summer Garden Cluster, measuring 33 x 50, is thus a dramatic enlargement of some parts of the original painting. Casual flourishes of the brush that are very small in the original, can be made larger and more pronounced in an enlargement and thus the whole thing becomes more abstract. The disconnects between adjacent canvases adds mystery and alludes to the actual patchwork that is what we understand as ‘continuous’ seeing of any subject. Summer Garden Cluster will arrive on your doorstep in a medium-sized double-walled cardboard box. The canvases will be numbered in order on the back. If you live within 35 miles of my studio in Ashland, Oregon, I will deliver the piece to you directly and hang it for you, if you like. If you live in the Seattle area, I would be happy to hang the piece for you between May 18 and 24th, as I will be visiting your city during that time. All services are free.
