Mabrie Ormes - Canyon Xeriscape (framed)
Canyon Xeriscape is an oil painting, protected with a UV varnish and measuring 37 inches high by 21 inches wide, including the simple artist-built hickory frame. It is part of an ongoing series of garden paintings, some painted outdoors, some from photographs I take. This one was painted outdoors over the course of many days. It features several kinds of Euphorbia, a plant famous for its drought-resistant qualities. Way up at the top of the painting is a reference to the highest cliffs of the canyon in Northern California where the garden is located.
