Sue Ann Tanzer Roberts is a long-time Boise artist and craftswoman specializing in coiled batik baskets, trivets and coasters as well as sheep featuring local wool. This year, she premieres Washington and Idaho state ornaments. Crafted with hand-dyed batiks and other quality cotton fabrics, baskets, coasters and trivets are made with cotton clothesline, wrapped with colorful cotton strips and sewn together in various shapes. The artist’s endearing standing sheep have a cotton weighted base which is stuffed with fiberfill and covered with naturally-colored wool locks, sheared from sheep in Idaho, Oregon and Montana. Washington’s ornament shows Lake Washington and sparkling snow-capped Mount Rainier. Idaho’s ornament represents the state’s wooded areas and tall peaks.
