A lifelong sewer, I have been making and selling purses and fleece hats for 8 years. My purses have always been inspired by the natural and colorful vibe of my youth, the early 70s. Dressmaker techniques and quality sewing and materials elevate my bags into something durable and useful. As fabric selection and access has declined over the last 20+ years, I have wished to create my own fabrics, and have turned to quilting. My love of historic global craft forms (Moroccan tiles, European folk art, Native American art) informs my use of dense patterns, of symmetry and balance, and of color. Quilting allows me to play with pattern, shape, and color, then transform the flat quilt into other useful items like bags, pillows, and even clothing.
Feel free to contact me during this event. I'm happy to answer any questions about my artwork.
