LORY NEWSOM ART

My work is heavily influenced by an intuitive painting process, as well as my love of color, texture and all the elements which nature has to offer. The moment I was introduced to the art of encaustics wax, I was hooked. I’m continually entranced by the way the hot wax flows and luscious layers of luminosity. Given the fact that I’m painting with 200° wax, the amount of control isn’t always a given and I’m often surprised with the finished product, which truly is the magic of the process. I also work with acrylics and mixed media on paper and canvas. I’m a lifelong Seattleite and reside in Burien with my husband and 2 Golden Retrievers who love the beach.
