Lee H. Rentz - WINTER’S CLAIM ON THE FARM
Falling and swirling snowflakes transform a landscape to something austere, with a zen-like beauty in its simplicity. This barn caught my eye long before I took its portrait, but the lighting was never quite right. Then I drove by it during a heavy snowstorm and the building was transformed into something entirely different: a wall of red and a roof of drifted snow on corrugated metal. The falling snowflakes add a fascinating granular texture in front of the worn wood. The mind has to work a bit to interpret the scene, and I like that quality in a photograph.
