Scandia Glass Art - Dreamy Fused Glass Forest Display Art Mounted in Stand
This soft-focus small-scale glass landscape painting depicts a dream-like forest from my imagination, rather than any specific photo or place. For it’s last firing, it was loaded face down to create a smooth matte finish (rather than glossy, which I often prefer) and is permanently mounted into a Walnut and Cedar hand-made table-top stand.
As this is a semi-translucent painting, so it can be displayed against a wall/solid vertical surface or displayed near a light source for a subtle backlit scenario so you can enjoy the view morning or night. The glass itself measures about 1/4in. thick, while the stand depth is 2.5in. Overall, the piece measures approximately 8in. Wide x 7.75" Tall x 2.5in. deep.
Creative Process -- Using compatible colored sheet glass, fusible paints, and colored glass Frit (crushed glass granules) as my materials, I create my images by applying small pieces or layers of glass, specialty paints and Frit details in phases, fusing each layer of additional detail the glass base in a fusing kiln over the course of 3 to 4 total firings. Each piece is then sanded to fit the display stand or frame opening, which has been stained to complement the artwork displayed on, or in.
