Steven Robertson - Harrier Battle
This was really remarkable to watch. I think an eagle pulled a pretty big fish out of the marsh and for some reason left it. The harriers don’t fish, but if they find one, they get really interested really fast. So they found this one. One harrier would be eating on it for a while and another would come from the east and would generally displace the first. This went on for quite a while. Maybe twenty minutes. Sometimes the eater was able to defend her dinner, but not often. The raven that showed up didn’t have a chance and didn’t stick around long. I was fascinated and kept clicking and clicking and cursing my full buffer. As the fighting progressed, they kept knocking the fish closer and closer to the water. And when they finally knocked it in, they looked rather confused and stuck around for a while. Guess they were hoping that it would come back.
