Summer in the Cascade Siskiyou descends swiftly. Butterflies rush skipping from one shallow prairie to the next, hidden between deep pools of forest. Amon the arid mountain cliffs, the rabbit bush is blooming. 


An important insect in this piece is the Chalybion californicum, The Blue Mud Dauber also known as the Black Widow Wasp. The wasp is a beneficial insect as it is non aggressive and preys upon other wasp species. The yellow flowers are Ericameria nauseosa, aka rubber rabbit bush.
