Alice Macdonald - Necklaces of Blue and Aqua Hues
I was inspired by the colors in a painting by the great Czechoslovakian (bohemian) artist Alphonse Mucha for this necklace. The energy of bright orange sunstone in contrast with rich teal Apatite creates an invigoration of energy. The wire is antiqued bronze. This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
The elven queen from Tolkiens world was named Varda, she was the star kindler. In tribute to such a great legend I have paired some of my favorite stones, royal teal kyanite and iolite on to antiqued silver wire. To me these are the colors of an evening sky, that liminal moment between day and night. This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
The queen of the Greek pantheon is Hera, and her most beloved bird is the peacock. There is no more regal or visually inspiring bird to me than the peacock. Their hypnotic feathers are the inspiration for this necklace. I have used green labradorite as the focal gem for my interpretation of a peacock feather. I have also included pearls and teal hydro-quartz. The wire lace is constructed of antiqued bronze wire. This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
This necklace is inspired by the subtle flashes of color in labradorite. To me they feel like an echo, mysterious, ephemeral, there and transformed in an instant. This is a misty magical necklace. I have used pale gray labradorite with blue flashes, pale green amethyst, and aqua apatite. The wire is enameled antiqued silver wire. This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
The alluring waters of a tropical sea will always be the color of turquoise for me. In that color is always a siren song. This necklace is created out of a gun metal wire (it has a strong golden hue but silvery as well), turquoise and pale green prehinite. This is a necklace for a siren, land or sea. This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
Niamh was one of the Fae from the Land of Youth in Irish mythology who took the hero Oisin to dwell in that mystical land in the western ocean. The inspiration for this necklace is from the pale misty blue kyanite which is focal of this necklace. It is paired with golden pyrite and on gunmetal wire (it has a strong golden hue but silvery as well). This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
The constellation Virgo is dearest to my heart and the muse for this necklace. Sapphire is the one of the stones associated with this sign and to me it looks like the splendid night sky. Virgo is a sign of the earth as well and the rich blue Sapphire is paired with deep brown pearls. The wire that I have used is an antiqued silver. This is a set of necklace and matching earrings.
