Lichenology - Expanse Madrone Wall Hanging
Both madrone and lichen rely on symbiotic relationships to survive. This piece is made as a testament to how partnership creates beauty.
This small wall hanging is made from a burled cut of Pacific madrone that was gathered on Bainbridge Island, WA. It is inlaid with a large, colorful specimen of rock posy lichen from the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Brown silk stitching reaches out rom the lichen inlay tto accentuate the tension in the grain.
This hanging approximately 3” wide by 3 1/2” tall—perfect for a small corner or home office where you may need a constant reminder of the wisdom of nature. It hangs from a brown waxed cotton cord and is designed to sit flush on a wall, though its backside is beautiful, too, making it suitable to hang freely as well.
